Simon has worked for Child and Family Training since 2000. He was involved in developing their Child Protection Decision Making (SAAF) course. He has delivered training on their behalf to a wide variety of professionals in the UK, Ireland and Finland including social workers, social work managers, psychologists, psychiatrists and Children’s Guardians. He is part of the training and coaching programme for newly trained Surrey social workers. He is a qualified social worker who has worked as a children and families social worker, senior practitioner and social work manager for Kent Social Services. For 15 years he was a CAFCASS Children’s Guardian and for many years undertook independent social work assessments on behalf of local authorities in care and adoption proceedings. He is an approved trainer for the Kent Safeguarding Children Board, delivering safeguarding training for them since 1997. He is a Safeguarding Adviser for children and vulnerable adults for the Church of England, currently working with Canterbury Cathedral. He gives practice supervision to a Social Worker for a group of schools and staff support to a local authority school for children with emotional and behaviour problems.
